a post to say we miss you Lisa and Van! (miss the horsey rides!)

Unco Van was such a good sport! but the longer the riders stayed on, the more disturbed the horsey got!

On a side note: isn't lisa pretty?? :)
Let's get started!! (Horsey Van doing fine!)

An exuberant rider! Horsey Van is starting to realize he may not be cut out for this.

Adding on another rider or two..Horsey is still doing ok.

A happy Brandon joins in!

Emma to Brandon: do you think our horsey is going crazy?

I think the Horsey is about to keel over!

We miss you Unco & Di Ba!

1st Easter basket!

My parents were wonderful with fun traditions. One of them was the Easter basket! On Easter morning, Lisa and I would wake up to find Easter baskets filled with goodies outside our bedroom door.

This morning, Brandon woke me up at 5:45 am, so the basket had plenty of time to sit outside the door, waiting.
I wanted to post a video, but it's too big. You can see the video on Emma's eachday website, though. I'll try and edit the video to make it smaller.

Here's Emma enjoying her 1st Easter basket!

What was in the basket:

* Tinkerbell stickers (Tink is her favorite. Emma calls her ching-ga-beo.) I like tinkerbell because she's a young Disney character, and although she has a friend named Terrance, there isn't any of that mushy kissy stuff going on.

* Two easter eggs: one filled with sour candy, the other filled with hershey's kisses

* Belle (Disney Princess, Emma call all the disney princesses (Ariel, Belle, Jasmin, Snow White...) as pwincess). Emma hasn't seen Beauty and the Beast, but I like Belle because she studies, reads books and only wanted to have a life with MORE studying and MORE books, and just happened to end up with a prince.

I made the flowers for decoration, tying them to her basket. They are actually hair clips and a ring.

Emma enjoying a hershey's kiss:

Gotta love the hair!! Here's Emma's hair for Easter Sunday (love what a little bit of hair products, a straightener that curls and a patient baby girl can do):

Here's Emma with Grandma:

pouffy bangs and pink elephants!

I had blow dried emma's bangs, and she liked them super pouffy. She also likes this pink elephant toy, which she tries to keep away from Brandon. Brandon did manage to play with it a little bit!

another silly video

it's another funny one. It makes me smile big time! I love my silly emma and laughing Brandon!

Emma LOVES UP! She says: "Ee-ba cho Up! Unco cho Up! Ellie cho UP!"

Here are some pics of her little goggles and thumbs up look! I couldn't find a pic of the young carl online, though.

I said: Do UP! (and Emma gives me the thumbs up!)

I think there is a great resemblence when Brandon puts on the glasses!!

Emma the hugger

mommy: "Emma! Brandon! Look at the camera! (thinks: "for once, both babies look good! Emma's hair is nicely curled in, no stains on shirt)"
Brandon: Yes, mommy?
Emma: looks at Brandon..hmmm

Emma: "oooh..Pic-sha tam pic-sha tam ( Picture time)!!"

Brandon: this can't be a good thing.

Emma: "Look mom! Mom! Hug! Hug Hug em!!"
Mommy: "Emma! Be Gentle! Be nice! EMMA!"

Brandon: no words, just wails.
Emma: "em pic-sha all done. Em pic-sha all done"

Brandon: still wailing...
Mommy: "see, Emma? We have to be gentle with em. That hug was nice, but em didn't like being shoved to the ground."
Emma's little insolent face: PRICELESS. No words necessary.

Brandon's bugged out eyes: save me PLEASE.

looong delayed...Pictures from Ee-Ba Lisa's photoshoot!

Auntie Lisa did a lovely photoshoot of Emma and Brandon when she and Unco were visiting around Christmas time! Here are some of my favorite (honestly...in a mother's eyes, ALL the photos are favorites!)

roll over! so easy...

So it took Emma 6 months and day (with constant practicing by her parents and grandparents) for her to pass the mileston of rolling over (both from her back to her stomach and her stomach to her back). At 4 months, Brandon was able to roll from stomach back (i'm thinking he didn't really like tummy time). And at 4 months, 2 weeks, I took Brandon to the Doctor, and he had bronchiolitis, but as the Doctor leaned forward to suction out Brandon's nose with the dreaded blue rubber bulb thing, Brandon turned over from back to his tummy!

2 days after that, I looked down and showed anh An- look, Brandon just rolled over twice. all by himself! This is a video of the third time. He's an old pro at it now, but he was a bit fussy in the video! Good job, Brandon!

* Brandon is still not feeling well...and got Big sis Emma sick. we all went to the dr today, and Emma has an ear infection and a sinus infection...*sigh*...poor babies!

smile, Brandon!

Auntie Lani & cousin Mattie came over to visit. We noticed that Brandon would start laughing whenever Mattie smiled. Lani would say: "smile, Mattie." mattie would smile, Brandon would laugh! :) then lani would do it again: "smile, Mattie." mattie would smile, Brandon would laugh! :)

Brandon is a super supportive brother to big sis emma. Whenver emma did anything remotely funny, Brandon would laugh! Now, Emma caters to her audience (her brother), saying, "Brandon look look!" (emma also would pat her leg, like tring to make a doggie pay attention).

ABC's

Emma likes to push a button on her toy to sing the ABC's, and then grabs her microphone to sing along! gotta admit - it's hard to sing at such a fast pace! note to self - get a wireless microphone!

a Sunday School Story

So I've told this story already..but as this is emma's fun-stories blog..it deserves a place here for memory's sake!

I took emma to her class at church (Co Lien was teaching it, so it was great singing, Bible story content, object lesson, etc). The lesson was about adam & eve & the apple.

(Emma was thrilled about the apple part- eating? this is her type of lesson. She kept saying MOR APPO! she got a second helping.)

So we got to the coloring part, after eating the apple part. I was trying to get her to say "adam" and "eat" apple. She took her colored pencil, pointed it at Adam's bare chest and said "A-DAM CO' DU' !!" The other adults were laughing so hard, including chi Thao, who's son Jason was dutifully coloring and not pointing out anatomy issues. Then Emma made me draw a shirt on adam so that he wasn't o'? truo`ng.

But to prove that my baby girl is going to be a good girl, here's Emma singing John 3:16 in Vietnamese..standing on the stairs and twirling around.

Gin-gee beo, gin-gee beo

Emma has certain songs she asks certain people to sing. Mommy gets to sing "ABC's", "Stars (which is twinkle twinkle little star), and "Jesus loves me". Now that Emma has been sleeping in her own room with Daddy to sing her to sleep, since mommy is rocking Brandon to sleep, this is what I hear - Emma & daddy singing...
