the story behind Brandon's favorite word

This is Brandon's favorite word:

It is his favorite word. other boys say 'car', but Brandon says bong-bong (Balloon) almost everyday. He looks for them outside, and especially likes pointing at them in grocery stores. He was especially excited to find a book of emma's that had balloons in them. Which is what prompted the little videos.

The story: we were at Disneyland with Lisa and Van. Everywhere we looked, we saw these large mickeymouse shaped balloons. At night time, these large, enticing balloons even had LED lights in them, making them glow attractively. Brandon, at the time, could only say, bong and not bong-bong. He would point at the balloon, look at his dad, and say, "bong", once a minute. Look at the balloon, look at his dad, and say, "bong". we didn't buy it b/c we wouldn't be able to take it home with us (helium balloons not allowed on airplanes). not to mention, it cost $12+!
We ended up getting Brandon a swirly lollipop, which he loved. Since then, he always says bong bong. To be fair, brandon always gets a bong-bong when we buy them for new babies we visit, and people give brandon balloons, too (we currently have two nice star shaped ones.)
someday, we'll buy an LED helium filled Mickey mouse balloon for him :).

singing interpretation

For Easter, the children sang, "Alive, Alive, My Jesus is Alive!" Emma said it was her favorite song, and sings it at home. Here they are practicing at church!

At home, I noticed that Brandon was singing it too! He raised his arms, and I leaned close to hear him..."a-lie, a-lie"...hmmm..I'm thinking Emma needs to pronounce her words better!

cutest baby voice, cutest baby boy

This is Easter morning, and Brandon just got his basket, including a Toy Story 3 cell phone.
"Ai Do?"

Some good looking pictures of Brandon because he is good looking!

Love the nose!

I charming. you?

for my fa-mi-ly and my friends.

Emma has learned to pray from watching BOZ (an animated Christian DVD series, featuring a big friendly, green bear). I love listening to her pray, it's so cute. Especially the way she says 'fah-mih-lee'!

"thank you, God, as this day ends.
for my family and my friends.
taking time..to pray, thank you, God for a great day"
then emmma adds her own list:
mom, dad, baby, emma, daddy, mommy, hai dua (2 kids in Vietnamese),
"thank you God for great day,"
"A-MEN".

If Emma is in an especially good mood, she'll add in some dog names, and her 2 grandmas and 2 grandpas and rainbows.

Career goals

We are so excited for our upcoming trip to go to Disneyland. Emma has been asking when we'll go to California everyday now. I've been talking to her about going to Disneyland to meet princesses - I don't think she understands the concept of 'meeting a princess', but she does understand that she wants a crown and that Di Ba will buy it for her. I've packed her princess dress to wear to Disneyland, but I'm not sure how long she'll want to wear it.

So one day, our conversation went like this:
mommy: Emma, come here.
Emma: Yes, mommy?
mommy: Emma, when you grow up do you want to be a doctor?
Emma: No
mommy: do you want to be a phamacist?
Emma: No.
Emma: Emma want to be a PRINCESS.

if you know of any princes, we are accepting applications...

Here's a picture with Brandon from last Halloween.

mini stories

Time for our annual post! (just kidding!) blogging takes time- and I'd prefer to have nice pictures and a story line. But this year, I'll just try to get the funny stories out there first and maybe a cute picture that has nothing to do with the story. My goal is just to put out the funny stories!

Emma & brandon have been so much fun (when healthy!). This last January was a tough month with our little family being sick and anh an having his nose infection, etc. Both babies are adorable and funny!

Emma's mini-story:
In the van, on the way home from school.
Emma: "mommy, you are good."
Mommy: "thank you, emma"
Emma: " emma, emma is good. Daddy, hmm, daddy is good too!"
Mommy: "that's good, emma. What about brandon?"
Emma: "brandon, brandon... HE BAD!!!!
Mommy: "what! Why is brandon bad?"
Emma: "brandon.. HE GOT PROBLEMS!"
