Princess Daddy
Brandon is still on the bottle for milk. Juice, water, smoothie - everything else is from a cup. But for milk, he likes to get the bottle and then he runs to his dad to get into position. He also likes to still pull dad's ear lobe for comfort.
This night, Brandon is in position, Anh An's arms were occupied, when someone did this:
Who made daddy a princess?? here's the culprit:
(p.s. i don't think daddy was too pleased to have his picture taken!)

Presenting: Doctor Emma and Baby Rock Star Emma!
now..to offset that glum picture from the previous post. Today, I went in to emma's school, to look at some pictures they took a few weeks ago. Apparently, a picture company came in, and dressed the kids up a few weeks ago. Since it was a school fund-raiser, I was slightly more mollified to pay an arm and a leg for the next two photos. You'll have to admit that she looks more comfortable here.
(by the way, when I saw the notice that parents were to come in to view the photos, I asked Emma how/IF she smiled. She said she smiled, and then pulled her lips over her teeth in a wide grimmace. I have to admit I wasn't completely reassured..)

from last September...
Emma & Brandon are such fun, energetic little people, and they say and do the funniest things as well.
From last September, a 4-year old Emma started preschool. Picture day arrives 3 days into the school year, but we took a vacation to Hawaii, so emma missed that picture day. Make-up photos were a week after, where Emma was the only one to take photos (so no support system). I told her, Emma, you need to smile, ok? So we practiced and practiced. "Say Cheese! Smile!" Then I offered the ultimate incentive - I'll give her candy at the end of the day, if she smiled for her school picture.
When I got home from work, I asked: Emma, did you smile?
Emma: I didn't feel like smiling. I don't want candy.
Two weeks later...

(* will post as time & inspiration lends themselves to me!)

4 months is a good time for a blog update...
Lisa asked me if I was still blogging... well, here we are! Once a quarter!
We went to family camp, and here's what we did!
::examined rocks::
::played with friends::
::planned the Bible game/Minute to win it::
::"and this is how you walk a duck"::
::had fun::
::looked cute::
We had a fun time!
(I will try to post more...not chronologically, but they will be picture filled posts!)

the story behind Brandon's favorite word
This is Brandon's favorite word:
It is his favorite word. other boys say 'car', but Brandon says bong-bong (Balloon) almost everyday. He looks for them outside, and especially likes pointing at them in grocery stores. He was especially excited to find a book of emma's that had balloons in them. Which is what prompted the little videos.
The story: we were at Disneyland with Lisa and Van. Everywhere we looked, we saw these large mickeymouse shaped balloons. At night time, these large, enticing balloons even had LED lights in them, making them glow attractively. Brandon, at the time, could only say, bong and not bong-bong. He would point at the balloon, look at his dad, and say, "bong", once a minute. Look at the balloon, look at his dad, and say, "bong". we didn't buy it b/c we wouldn't be able to take it home with us (helium balloons not allowed on airplanes). not to mention, it cost $12+!
We ended up getting Brandon a swirly lollipop, which he loved. Since then, he always says bong bong. To be fair, brandon always gets a bong-bong when we buy them for new babies we visit, and people give brandon balloons, too (we currently have two nice star shaped ones.)
someday, we'll buy an LED helium filled Mickey mouse balloon for him :).

singing interpretation
For Easter, the children sang, "Alive, Alive, My Jesus is Alive!" Emma said it was her favorite song, and sings it at home. Here they are practicing at church!
At home, I noticed that Brandon was singing it too! He raised his arms, and I leaned close to hear him..."a-lie, a-lie"...hmmm..I'm thinking Emma needs to pronounce her words better!
